Stephen Gass Sticks His Own Finger Into a SawStop

You read that title right: SawStop inventor Stephen Gass has upped the ante on SawStop demonstrations by sticking his own finger into a spinning blade, eschewing the old hotdog stand-in that has always been a staple of SawStop demos. You can see a clip of his demo, which was featured on the Discovery Channel’s new TV show Time Warp, in the YouTube video below:

Can you tell that he has a lot of confidence in his product? I’ll bet that this video will spark a lot of copycat performances amongst SawStop demonstrators; sticking your real finger in the path of a whirring table saw blade is much more dramatic, dangerous and compelling than using a hotdog surrogate. Hopefully anyone who decides to repeat this stunt does so very, very carefully.
